Last week, the National Plan to End Parkinson’s Act advanced out of the House Energy & Commerce Health Subcommittee on a unanimous vote. This is a huge step in getting this legislation passed into law, organizations like the Parkinson Association of Alabama made it happen.
As of July 18th, the legislation has 81 co-sponsors in the House and 12 co-sponsors in the Senate. The Michael J. Fox Foundation has shared with congressional offices the latest version of the organizational letter of support (with more organizations being added over time), along with a letter from 99 former members of Congress in support of the legislation. The hope is that the subcommittee’s action and letters of support will convince even more members of Congress to co-sponsor and support the legislation.
More updates will be provided in the coming weeks from the Michael J. Fox Foundation, but please take a moment to appreciate this outstanding accomplishment. If you haven’t done so, there is still time to sign the petition in support of the National Plan.
